Our Story

About The Brief

Reader-funded, source-linked, and in your inbox every morning at 6.

Why We Built The Brief

The Brief exists for readers who want to start their morning informed, not overwhelmed. We built a daily digest funded entirely by its readers because the people reading the news should be the only customer that matters.

Most news digests are funded by advertisers, which means their incentives point toward engagement, not accuracy. We chose a different model: your subscription is our only revenue, and our only obligation is to you.

Every morning, we verify reporting from Reuters, AP, BBC, and 65+ sources across the political spectrum. You get a 5-minute brief with links to every original source, so you can check the reporting yourself.

That's why we built it. Try it free for 7 days.

What Makes Us Different

Source-Linked Reporting

Every story includes links to the original reporting. You can verify everything yourself.

Reader-Funded

No ads, no sponsors, no conflicts of interest. Your subscription keeps us independent and accountable only to you.

5 Minutes at 6 AM

Your Brief arrives at 6:00 AM local time. Five minutes, every morning, before your day starts.

Open Editorial Standards

Our editorial standards and source list are public. See exactly how we select and verify stories.

How We Work

Each morning, we review reporting from 65+ sources—Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, BBC, WSJ, NYT, and dozens more across the political spectrum. Every story must meet three criteria before it's included: significance, verification by multiple independent outlets, and novelty.

When only one source is reporting something, we wait for independent confirmation. When sources disagree, we present both perspectives and link to the original reporting so you can judge for yourself.

Built for Readers Who Think for Themselves

You don't need anyone to tell you what to think. You need verified facts, original sources, and five quiet minutes before your day starts.

Our job: deliver a Brief worth opening every morning.
